pulscount issue on R78

#1 Post by bennybubble » 13 May 2016, 22:19

Hi,

I'm using a ESP12 with R78 to monitor my power and gas meter.
Power is connected to GPIO-13 and the gas to GPIO-16.
Power is working well and today I added the gas counter hardware, strangely enough the gas counter doesn't work.
The signal arrives at the ESP12 (0 or 5 volt) but it is not counted.
Interesting detail is that when I make it a switch input, the signal is detected by the ESP12 but not when using it as a counter.

Any thoughts ?

Are you sure about the 5V ? This will kill the ESP, max 3.3V

Yes correct, but why does it work with switch input ?
But I will make it 3.3V to see if this solves the problem.

Changed it to 3.3 volt, no difference.
Works well with switch input but NOT with counter!

Could it be related to GPIO-16 port ?

Moved signal to GPIO-4, problem solved.

Cannot explain, anyone else ?

There are bugs in the counter plugin. I couldn't get formulas to work

The GPIO16, can not be used for Interrupt driven puls counts.
It is an issues of the ESP8266, see esp data sheet.
