ThingSpeak - no connection

#1 Post by Zodiac69 » 08 Jul 2016, 18:22

Hi All

So i tried my hand on this ThingSpeak thing and i failed....
Set the ESPEasy as per instructions on "http://www.esp8266.nu/index.php/EasyPro ... ThingSpeak" and no joy..
So went to the forum and configured as per Andy here "http://www.esp8266.nu/forum/viewtopic.p ... ThingSpeak" and still no joy...

Installed WireShark and listen to my ESPEasy and it is dead still.... no data is transmitted??
So i login to the config page and i can see the packets on WireShark between desktop and ESPEasy.... :D, but no communication between ESPEasy and ThingSpeak???
My serial terminal is spiting out That it is sending data, but WireShark is showing that ESPEasy is lying to me....
Here is my Serial capture:

HTTP : connecting to 184.106.153.149 using port 80
HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request
Server: nginx/1.7.5
Date: Fri, 08 Jul 2016 16:20:56 GMT
Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8
Transfer-Encoding: chunked
Connection: close
Status: 400 Bad Request
X-Frame-Options: ALLOWALL
Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *
Access-Control-Allow-Methods: GET, POST, PUT, OPTIONS, DELETE, PATCH
Access-Control-Allow-Headers: origin, content-type, X-Requested-With
Access-Control-Max-Age: 1800
Cache-Control: no-cache
X-Request-Id: 83a69322-b8fc-49da-94f6-dacd2ed827fc
Set-Cookie: request_method=POST; path=/

Anyone have any idea where i can see what the issue is?

Hi Zodiac69,

What tasks do you have set up? Did you assign IDX numbers to the tasks? The IDX numbers need to be sequential for each task starting with 1. The IDX number will determine the channel number on thingspeak. Did you set the message delay under Tools/Advanced to greater than 15 seconds (15000)?

Hi Dave

Yes
I have set the Unit number to 1
I have only one task, set to idx 1 - sysuptime
Message Delay (ms): is set to 15000.

I have done all this, what is confusing is that the ESP is not posting anything when i look at WireShark.
If i had some setting wrong, i would still have expected the wrong data to posted.

So i changed the configuration on my ESPEasy to "Domiticz HTTP" and i can see the ESP trying to communicate with the Domoticz server.
Any one has any idea why i do not see any communication when i try to use ThingSpeak?
