Framed OLED Display data from linked Units

#1 Post by rlust » 15 Mar 2017, 20:16

I am using v2.0.0-dev7

Is it possible to display on the OLED a Temperature Variable that is captured on another unit?
If so how is that configured.
I have the Nodes linked and they show on the Node List

THANKS!

Hello,

yes that is possible.
You may use the "Global Sync" for this.
The following works at least under the R148, should work on 2.0.0 too.

For (very) short:
- First check the "Config" page of your ESP's: There must be a unique unit number for both ESP's (1 ... 31)
- Goto "Devices" on your sensor's ESP. With GlobalSync the task will be "mirrored" to other
ESP's with the same Task Number! So if your Temperature Sensor is on Task 1,
your Display's ESP yould not have configured anything on Task 1!
- On both ESP's go to --> Tools --> Advanced and set the "UDP Port" to the same port number, e.g. 65111.
- On the same page scrolldown and check the "Global Sync" checkbox.

Restart both ESP's... my experience says it needs several restarts on both ESP sometimes until values show up.
Be patient! It takes a while, depending on the configured delays until values show up.

You may read the Wiki for these settings too: https://letscontrolit.com/wiki/index.php/EasyGlobalSync

Thanks so much for the calcification, the part of not having a task on that line was very helpful!
For others help:
Here are the variables I used in the OLED display.
[DHT22#Temperature]
[DeviceName#Variable Name]
[DHT22#Humidity]%
