system variable value web browser request?

#1 Post by uxhamby » 19 Aug 2018, 22:32

Hi,

I was reading about the use of system variables on this forum here.

It outlines the use of the %sunrise% variable in rules etc. Sunrise's value however changes from day to day calculated by the system. How can I know what today's value of sunrise is? Is there a means of having a system variable like %sunrise%, shown on an HTTP request from a browser for example?

Thanks,

Brian H.

Using MQTT you can output the value to a publish string or you can have it sent to a display etc.

BUT that being said... we are planning to show all the variables with their current state/value as a JSON message.

It is also shown in the log at boot time, which is a bit hard to get I know :)
