Well, i found some free time this year to upgrade my esp-07 modules. Did some digging into NODE-RED witch i will share later.
For now i'm having these weird issues that might be known to anyone.
I use 1.6.5 of the arduino IDE. Have tried 2.0.0 RC1 and RC2 of the board manager.
Selected Generic ESP module (i always did)
Uploaded the latest beta build: R59, and the latest stable build R 48.
Sometimes it's booting and working fine, when i reset the unit i get this weird behavior:
I did some hard resets, reboots, rebuilds and tried a brand new board. for some reason it's not working anymore.
Anyone who's having the same issues? It can be network related, or a bad batch of esp modules.. don't know for sure.
Any suggestions can come in handy. Sometimes it's connecting, sometimes it isn't..

Re: Strange issues with esp-07 modules
Hi!
How have you connected the power? I have the same problem from time to time. It could be the CH_PD. That should be pulled to VCC during boot, but only after the VCC is really ready.
Maybe it can be solved with a small capacity to ground and a resistor on CH_PD. Its worth a try.
We (all the community in here) should collect those information in the wiki pages.

Re: Strange issues with esp-07 modules
Thanks for the suggestion. The (lack of) capacitor's never caused any issues for me.
I did some digging in my config.. apparently i was still in the staging release.
There must be some difference between the staging 2.0.0 and the stable 2.0.0.
I switched to the stable version, and they're connecting again.
Sometimes it takes 2 tries, but no more serial garbage.
So far so good. I'm further working on my node-red project
