Simple 1-CH relay with ESP8266 bought on Ali + eWelink?

#1 Post by dziekan_tek » 17 Dec 2019, 19:07

Hi everyone,

this is my first post and first time of having fun with ESP8266 ;-)
I bought this simple relay with ESP8266 on board on Ali auction:

Code: Select all

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32890526507.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dhkIahw
The question is if I can configure that module with eWelink? My friend did a flashing for me with ESP Easy but I don't know if it will work with eWelink with that. There are some rules that I can edit but I don't know how to setup. First, I have to know if it will "talk" with eWelink or not :-)

Just one thing I have to add - it has following "devices" in rules page (attached picture).

Thanks in advance for any help and advices!

Best Regards
Dariusz

Or should I change firmware to Tasmota Sonoff? :)

First, welcome to ESP Easy! :D
Second, update the firmware with a newer release.

After that I would simply try GPIO 0,1,2, or 3 and see if any if those trigger the relay. By that being said, you don't need a plug-in to handle a relay, I'd suggest you enable the rules and start playing around there.

PS. no need to pull the Tasmota card out of the sleeve ;)

I've already checked and GPIO-0 is a LED on ESP board and GPIO-2 is a LED D3 on relay board (it's also the relay, diode just shows the relay state - ON or OFF).

My main purpose is make it working with eWelink because I've already have another 4-CH relay on ESP8285 (PSF-B85) but there case was very easy - I've just pair it with eWelink ;-)
so I wanted to have two relays in one common app on my smartphone :-)

The problem is that this 4-CH has pair button and this ESP-01S board doesn't have - there's only reset button ;-)

Ok, so you want to use eWelink? Then you shouldn't use ESP Easy...

OK, what other option (apps) do I have, using ESP Easy, to control this relay remotely? And I'm talking about controlling that relay even outside my home network, e.g. via 3G/4G? Is it possible at all?

eWelink uses ITEAD servers, but what could be used with ESP Easy?

There many options, I personally use a MQTT broker and send my data and commands through that one.

That starting to sound really good... :-)
Do you mean something like that -->

Code: Select all

? :-)

Currently ESPEasy does not offer secure access for controlling outside your local network. So if you're interested in using a cloud service (like eWelink) then ESPEasy isn't the answer.

And regarding security, don't expect any cloud based service to be safe to use. FWIW, eWelink is based in China, a country that hasn't established itself as safe and secure for personal data.
