NodeMCU keeps rebooting

#1 Post by manjh » 19 Apr 2020, 22:34

I have an ESP unit, communicating between the RFLink (on an Arduino Mega), via LAN, to Domoticz.
For some while now, this unit keeps giving problems: Domoticz reports (tx timeout). Sometimes this error is resolved automatically, but sometimes it keeps on for a long time. I aso noticed that the unit reboots very frequently.
Today I decided to replace some components, step by step.
I replaced the power supply, took a new Arduino Mega, installed the latest RFLink software, replaced the NodeMCU, and installed the latest EspEasy (upgraded from build 147 to the February version of Mega).
Still, the unit reboots, usually within two minutes from boot.
I tried to disable all devices, no luck.
When I pull the NodeMCU from the RFLink print, and run it standalone, it will run OK.

Does this ring a bell? Is there a pin that causes this to happen?

Things to check regarding WiFi:
- Fixed WiFi channel
- Gratuitous ARP enabled
- Force B/G

Resources:
- Free memory running low?
- Lots of network activity?
- Some IPTV box on the same network?

Also in Tools=>Advanced:
* Restart WiFi Lost Conn: unchecked (disabled)
* Serial Log Level: None (disabled)

I tried everything, nothing helped.
Since I swapped almost all HW (except the RFLink-esp print), the power supply, and the software (both RFLink and ESPEasy), I am beginning to think that something is wrong on the RFLink-ESP print. It is extremely simple, but still.
Meanwhile, I have decided to chicken out. I pulled the ESP part of the RFLink-ESP print, linked the Mega with my R-Pi via USB, and ran it from there. It is lots of work reconfiguring Domoticz, but now that has been done I am eager to see how this holds up...
