%sysname% changed from xxxxx to xxxxx_1 in latest version

#1 Post by Rob Muller » 18 Jul 2020, 15:02

L.S,

to check if a problem was ESPEasy related i upgraded from an older version (mega-20190404) to the latest version mega-20200703.
(btw, the problem was NOT ESPEasy related.)

i noticed that my %sysname% changed from xxxxx to xxxxx_1.
this seems to be the unit number appended to the unit name.

while i see the need for the HOSTNAME reported to the network to be unique, i fail to see the need for %sysname% to change.

what gives?
Thanks for reading,
regards,

Rob

In the "config" tab, there is "Append Unit Number to hostname:"
I tried to make it uniform among all instances where the hostname is generated, but it appeared to be more confusing.

So for now you can uncheck this setting I mentioned.
I will later try to make it more intuitive how the hostname is generated.
