reset network settings.

#1 Post by pw444 » 03 Nov 2020, 23:38

Hya,

is there a way to reset the network settings of ESPEasy without erasing the other settings, rules, etc? Just the network settings, turning back to AP for enabling in anoher network.

Thank you!

Set wifissid to "ssid"

Code: Select all

wifissid,ssid
wifissid2,ssid
save
Or just use the same command (wifissid) to set another access point.

So, once

Code: Select all

wifissid,ssid
wifissid2,ssid
saved by rules, it turns into AP for configuration, correct?

Correct. Basically you are entering dummy values. This ensures that the old local WiFi router is unreachable. So during reboot the WiFi STA connect fails and ESPEasy enables AP mode.

BTW, even if you skip resetting these WiFi settings, when you relocate the device the existing credentials will fail. Therefore AP Mode will be enabled.

Lastly, if you know the WiFi name and password to the new installation then use the serial commands and enter the WiFi credentials. Now ESPEasy will be ready to work on the new location's router.

If you set the SSID to a non-existing value, it will first seek for that network and then start an AP after a certain timeout. Alternatively, you can set WiFi passphrase using WifiKey command (or in Config menu) to a value shorter than 8 symbols, in that case the AP will be started immediately

You could set the new SSID credentials as the Fallback SSID (Config page), so after the physical move it would connect to the new network automatically.
