Other Wifi AP's visible and reporting on?

#1 Post by freijn » 09 Feb 2017, 15:05

Hi

My car has ( as already many cars now ) a build in Wifi access point.
My ESP in the kitchen is happily connected to my house Wifi and reporting temperature to Domoticz.

From my ESP, if I do a 'Wifi Scan' in the tools config screen, I can see my car's Wifi. ( if it is not stolen yet )

I would like to report my car 'still in front of my house' in my Domoticz system.

Has anybody done this before? Easy fix ?

Many thanks

Frank

When you install System_Alive_Checker as hardware in Domoticz. You can have a virtual switch that will be ON as long the IP address is reachable and change to OFF when out of range.
But it will require that your home-wifi-network sees your car.
I guess when you have a simple wifi_repeater in your kitchen, Domoticz can do this task.

I do not know a way that ESPEasy can be used as a sort of repeater to do this.

Hi costo

Thanks for taking the time to reply !

My CAR is an AccessPoint itself. So my home wifi will never register to an other AP :-(

When I was browsing in the ESPeasy I clicked on the wifi scan and noticed my car's SSID.
So the ESP is capable in keeping the connection to my home wifi ( as I am browsing the menu via wifi) and on top of that doing a
wifi scan as well.

I guess I do need to dive in, into the coding of the ESP and modify the scanning....

Cheers,

Frank

What you need seems to be in wifi.ino: wifi.scanNetworks() returns the number of visible APs and fills an array called wifi.ssid but I'm not skilled enough to go from there - a plugin around these would be nice. :D
