Connecting tot the A20 of AI-Thinker

#1 Post by FransErich » 05 Apr 2017, 13:27

Dear member,

Reading the article's of Raymond Tunning (https://raymondtunning.wordpress.com/20 ... m-product/) about the A20 board of AI-Thinker. It has Camera, GSM, GPRS WIFI and a ESP8266. So I became very enthusiastic and bought two of them.

But I can't connect with them. As soon as the micro USB is connected a red LED starts lighting up and a wifi router with name "AI-Thinker-####" shows up in my wifi device list. Connecting to it results in getting the IP 192.168.4.4 The host (board) has 192.168.4.1

I've worked with esp6288 (NodeMCU) before and for this board I've installed the driver (winchiphead-ch340 for Windows 10) and used it in combination with the "ESPlorer" to get an interface to communicate with it. It simply works when I plug the USB the comport pups-up and you can start using it.
But these procedures are not working for the A20.
Could you perhaps help me get in connected to my A20's?

Regards,

Frans Erich

just flashed my AI-Thinker A20 board with ESPEasy!!

used [env:normal_8285] build, but had to remove lots of plugins and controllers to bring the size down to the required minimum...
had to set the bit rate to 115200 for the flash to work. Also remember that the chip must be placed into flash mode.

Enable Flash mode for the esp8285:
1. power down the board
2. connect WI 00 to ground
3. connect power to the board.
4. flash using WRX0 and WTX0 for the Rx Tx connections
