SONOFF 5V - burned ?

Hi, I bought two Sonoff basic
I tried to load ESPEASY, but I used a FTDI FAKE programmer that did not allow me to complete Upload

I bought an original FTDI programmer.
Unfortunately, I did not realize that the VCC line, in this case, is not 3V3 but 5V

Now I've powered SONOFF at 5V. Programming seems to be successful, but then I can not see ESP_0
I guess I burned SONOFF

Is it possible to repair it?

Hello,

if it is really burned repairing is quite useless.
It might be possible by testing every integrated circuit and swap broken circuits to new ones.
But be aware, this needs tools for SMD soldering and checking and it needs spare parts.

It might be cheaper to buy ten new sonoffs instead...

Anyways: Newer sonoff basics have a bit of issues with flashing giving the same issue as result.
It might help to flash them with DOUT mode, some flash tools allow to set this.
Search the forum for that, there is a lot of discussion about it.

Oops, clicked on the exclamation mark by accident...
I was trying to say that the esp should be able to withstand voltages up to 5.8v.
It might be DOUT or failed flash or you waited to short since it takes a couple of minutes sometimes.

A word about flashing everybody shout really note:
At this time it is not possible to "read back" when flashing an ESP!
If your flash tool says "Flashing completed successfully" (or whatever), this does NOT say the firmware is completely flashed!
It just says that there was no interruption in the data flow to the ESP-Board.
It does not say that everything arrived correctly in the flash rom.

Maybe we should mention this in the wiki (if anybody reads that )

On another note:
I've seen often that some remnants of old firmware stays in the flash disturbing ESPEasy.
Sometimes it helped to flash a "null" file over the whole flash size to really delete the existing firmware before
reflashing a new one.

I have solved
2 SONOFF basic powered for various tests at 5V are OK
now they work at 3.3V

this means SONOFF can support 5V for short periods! !!!

I followed the guide:

Now 2 SONOFF working
