warning: espcomm_sync failed
Dear All,
I get stuck with uploading my sketch .
Everything seems to be going well, but then comes the error:
warning: failed espcomm_sync
And after that:
error: failed espcomm_open
I tryed at various board attempted. Also google, but really did not come out.
Arduino 1.6.5
Espeasy 48
flash and hold , and reset oppressive.
So help me please

Re: warning: espcomm_sync failed
What Kind of esp8266 is it ?
Although they are in my understanding all the same, some Need additional resistors
Most important thing is, GPIO00 has to be connected to ground, then reset it ( you may also do a power off-power on)

Re: warning: espcomm_sync failed
I tryed servel things ...
Board 1:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ESP8266-Serial- ... SwAodWFUv7
And this board:
http://nl.aliexpress.com/item/ESP8266-s ... wVersion=2
And:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NodeMcu-Lua-CH3 ... SwFnFV~9D6
All the same error!!
I use a powered usb hub..
The GPO00 always groundend when i try to flash?
Or do i need push and let go while the flashing is starting?
This part is for me nut to understand....:
Need additional resistors [ how ? ]
And use the buttons on the board, when avalible.Board 1:

Re: warning: espcomm_sync failed
Hi, maybe to try flash esp to default firmware and then try again trough arduino to upload ESP easy sketch.
Try with this http://www.xess.com/blog/esp8266-reflash/
Few times I have problem with flashing my esp so I have reflash to default and then start over again
Also double check wiring.

Re: warning: espcomm_sync failed
when i have time i going to try it....
Is there no xxx.bin for Espeasy"?
Thanks!

Re: warning: espcomm_sync failed
When you try to upload sketch from Arduino IDE, in the black status window at the bottom, you will see status messages. One of them will contain the path to .bin firmware. Without closing Arduino IDE, you may copy the path (in temp folder) and upload this firmware using different flasher.Dylantje wrote:when i have time i going to try it....

I have done it a couple of times and it works. After you close the Arduino IDE, the folder and it's content will be deleted.

Re: warning: espcomm_sync failed
Your wiring seems to be ok, but when you want to flaf the firmware, GPIO-0 must be connected to ground and then the reset port must be pulsed to ground as well. When programming is in progress, you can release GPIO-0.
NodeMcu can be connected with an USB port, without using the FTDI board.

Re: warning: espcomm_sync failed
As Bert sayd, GPIO0 is not connected in your set-up
At least my experience with 8266-12, you don´t need to do resets or such things
- connect GPIO0 to ground
- unpower/repower the ESP
- flash the esp
- remove the Connection between GPIO= and Ground
- Repower the device

Where do i find this?remove the Connection between GPIO= and Ground
And when should i do this?
I try it this evening/night...
Re: warning: espcomm_sync failed
Unpower the ESP has the same effect as resetting itkr0815 wrote:As Bert sayd, GPIO0 is not connected in your set-up

Re: warning: espcomm_sync failed
I have the same problem as Dylantje, tried all the solutions that was given on the internet, but till now no succes. What is the best solution to check if my ESP-01 is working? It's on the moment powered with a external powersupply for the 3.3V and i use a Arduino Mega for communication. In the line TX_Arduino and RX_ESP-01 i have a voltage divider, Vin= 5V, R1=220E, R2=2x220E, Vout=3.33V From TX_ESP-01 to RX_Arduino i don't use a power divider. My question, what do i wrong or what is the solution.

Re: warning: espcomm_sync failed
People who have problems with flashing the ESP should not use a bare ESP board like the ESP01
For everyone having difficulties reading schematics it is so much easyer to buy the NodeMCU board. That works without making any connections between ground or Vcc and some difficult to choose pin(s). There is even no need to push a switch, it just can be automatically flashed from within the Arduino IDE by clicking the upload button.
Connection between PC and the NodeMCU board is usually a USB cable with a micro-USB connector on one end.
The price is just a little more that a bare ESP but it saves you a lot of frustrations and time.

Re: warning: espcomm_sync failed
mmm
No glorie yet.......
With what hardware do you guys flash the Esp?
I use the http://nl.aliexpress.com/store/product/ ... eId=604119 and you?
I have more types, only what is the best?

Re: warning: espcomm_sync failed
I have several different USB serial interfaces they all work the same. CrossConnect RX and TX. Connect ground and 3.3V.
How to flash, connect may be different for the different versions of ESP boards.
Did you connect the CH_PD also called Chip_Enable to Vcc ?

Yes like the picture i post...Did you connect the CH_PD also called Chip_Enable to Vcc ?
Glory....
Only with 1 of my use a bare ESP board
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NodeMcu-Lua-CH3 ... SwFnFV~9D6
Not use the buttons,.... then upload ready....
Only no ESP in my network, and i am for sure that my sid and key are correct...
I do not give up
One step to ..
Only i do not give up, i need the small Esp for my wife her battery candles from Ikea....
That i was promising her to switch with Domoticz....

Update:
Hooray ...
One with the smoke out, so broken I think ... [a little]
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ESP8266-Serial- ... 1981825518
One whose sketch says good uploaded.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NodeMcu-Lua-CH3 ... SwFnFV~9D6
I see him in my network.
But if I have ip in type I see nothing.
Should a port number ID behind?
Can reach him via Putty?
Tomorrow i try it with the flashbuttons...
But the last ...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ESP8266-ESP-12- ... SwLqFV7xaI
Visible and works almost well. The Tx and Rx should not be crossed !!!!
Can I read the lux sensor on this board?
Dallas does its job ... Just how the setting should be a pir. He keeps on and off, while I did not walk along there.
Does this have to pull up? [Cost Pull up me my batteries? ]
Or what can I pull up with?
Go to sleep, tomorrow is another attempt

No port number needed, it uses HTTP and works (usually) with any browser. One whose sketch says good uploaded.

If you can see the monitorwindow of Arduino IDE maybe you read some clues there about what is going on .
This board does not have a lux sensor like a BH1750 or the TLS2561 which are real lux-sensors.But the last ...

There is a LDR which can be used to measure a varying voltage on the Analog Input (ADC) pin.
Do not use pin GPIO-0 for the PIR, pin 0 is used to get ESP in flashMode when it boots up and is logical low, which can happen with a sensor.
Pull-up does not cost you your batteries , unless you connect a resistance to ground on this pin.
Re: warning: espcomm_sync failed
Problem with "warning: espcomm_sync failed" is solved after i made a small pcb with the Program and Reset switch.
After programming i press Reset. I tried also other firmware from http://www.xess.com/blog/esp8266-reflash/When i open Putty i can give any command, but when i press the reset switch on my small pcb i see a dump of all registers.
And thats all what i see, what can be the problem?
