Sonoff Basic and latest versions of ESP firmware

#1 Post by ManS-H » 25 Mar 2019, 11:59

Hello,

Last week i was busy with my two Sonoff-Basic modules. I put the version ESP_Easy_mega-20190121_normal_ESP8266_1024 on it. Problems with connecting on Wifi.
Then i tried the version ESP_Easy_mega-20190315_normal_ESP8266_1M, same problems. Then i go back to a very old version, ESPEasy_R147_1024. A direct hit, everything works as normal.
The other ESP's worked with ESPEasy_R145_1024 and ESP_Easy_mega-20180625_normal_ESP8266_1024, i'm very lazy with updating firmware. So i flashed ESP_Easy_mega-20180625_normal_ESP8266_1024 on that Sonof-Basic. It works directly.

My question, is there something changed so much that older Sonoff-Basic modules not work anymore with the latest software?

Have you made a blank flash in-between? The settings have been refactored...
ESP Easy Flasher [flash tool and wifi setup at flash time]
ESP Easy Webdumper [easy screendumping of your units]
ESP Easy Netscan [find units]
Official shop: https://firstbyte.shop/
Sponsor ESP Easy, we need you

Yep, first i cleaned up with blank_1MB

I tried it again, first i used blank_1MB, then ESP_Easy_mega-20190315_normal_ESP8266_1M, I controlled the process with ESPplorer.
I see on my telephone ESP_Easy-0, connected, no internet.
I see the same with ESP_Easy_mega-20190121_normal_ESP8266_1024
When i use ESPlorer and fill all the fields by hand it works in both situations.
Then i tried ESP_Easy_mega-20181201_normal_ESP8266_1024, no problem. Works as a charme.
And yes, before changed the firmware i used blank_1MB

After this i want for 100% sure. i used blank_1MB, the i flashed ESP_Easy_mega-20190315_normal_ESP8266_1M. I see ESP_Easy_0, connected, no internet.
With ESPlorer it was possible too fill the fields and working with this build.

Tell me what's the problem, i don't see it.

Can you give a very short summary of what is working and what isn't?
As I read it, you could make it to work with the last build?
But what did you do differently compared to the first attempt?

And what is this ESPlorer?

I can made it works with the ESPlorer, but not as normal with 192.168.4.1
When i flash ESP_Easy_mega-20190121_normal_ESP8266_1024 and ESP_Easy_mega-20190315_normal_ESP8266_1M i see ESP_Easy_0, connected, no internet

I think message " ESP_Easy_0, connected, no internet" is correct.

ESPeasy is in AP mode ( and without internet connection of course )

You must connect to it ( 192.168.4.1 ) and set your wifi network SSID and password.

Yes, you have right, that the normal situation. But in my case the screen with the access points doesn't pop up. But when i use the file of 28-06-2018 no problem at all. Even with the builds 120 and 148 works correct.
I used my cellphone for it. Now i tried it with my tablet and it works. Strange, but working.
