Comments on the new UI?

#1 Post by budman1758 » 06 Apr 2019, 04:43

Just thought I'd create this poll for comments on the new user interface.

The graphics is by no means the final product. It's meant to be used to test the "framework" of the JSON endpoints.

FYI: this is a early mockup of the new GUI.... https://bit.ly/2KNXqha

We will need to get some time to implement it though.

Hello
Some remarks about the design of somes pages :
- page "unit" : I should prefer to have the info in 2 or even 3 columns so that we can have all info of the unit without scroll the page
- page "device" : show the enable button, for the temp sensors show port number, show active controllers for the device
- page tools : please show also in 2 columns so no scroll is needed
- page advanced settings : if possibly group the setting by type ( example time related settings) can also be displayed in 2 or 3 colomns
The design looks attractive ... good job

Thanks for the feedback! :) I will rest for a bit, gain some energy, and then try to pick up pace. Thanks for the remarks once again.

Great work!

Can the GUI be edited by the user to take out some of the menu options?

Yes the idea is that it will be "fully" optional.

looks good!
also, the sponsor links are a very good idea for you knowing that you're looking for money to continue the project.
I'm not normally one for ads but maybe make those stick out even more to draw attention to them :)

I like the frontend - however for configuration I wouldnt care too much.

I'd much rather have a configurable end-user frontend like the shelly devices. :geek:

I'd love to vote, but what new GUI are you talking about?

OP is talking about the GUI you get when you click "download new GUI" in the advanced settings. I have the work in progress GUI on my private site which I wanted to show you all since you might be thinking that the downloaded GUI was the final product.

With one of the WeMos boards. Right after clicking the Download UI button.
Another one did work, so I had a closes look.

Yeah, it's not really the new GUI. Only a test for the endpoints. The new GUI is only running in our test environment.
