DeepSleep Wakeup does not work anymore - very confusing

#1 Post by Errazzor » 15 Aug 2019, 19:34

Hi all,

I am using a D1 Mini Pro (16MB) and the latest Espeasy Mega release Release mega-20190813

My Settings: (for testing)

Sensor HC-SR04
GPIO16 connected to RST
Sleep awake time 40 seconds
Sleep time 30 seconds

The wake up worked (!) like a charm multiple times...but for any reason it does not work anymore and I have no idea why.

GPIO16 is definitely connected to RST (checked with Multimeter)

When I power on the D1 it boots, stays alive, Hc-sr04 sends Data to FHEM via Connector and then it goes to DeepSleep. That's it. It won't come up again. The blue LED is on, it does not flicker or anything.

Power supply is stable, tried another one, too.

What could be the problem?

If anyone could help me, that would be great.

Thanks!

UPDATE: The problem only persists when the Hc-sr04 Sensor is connected!

When I disconnect the Sensor, DeepSleep and wake up works as expected. If the Sensor is connected, the D1 never wakes up again.

Additionally there is a difference with the blue LED.
When the Sensor is connected, the blue LED is on all the time (it never goes off, even when in DeepSleep)

When the Sensor is disconnected, the blue LED is off all the time (regardless running or Deep Sleep)

So the question is: Why does is not Wakeup when the Sensor is connected?

Any help would be great. Thanks.

I don't use the HC-SR04 module. But from your comments I suggest rechecking the logic level shifting circuitry; Confirm that the Echo signal's logic high voltage does not exceed 3.3V.

As a reminder, the sensor's 5V logic needs to be level shifted to 3.3V. Examples of logic level conversion circuitry is shown in the wiki:

From what I read, the D1 Mini GPIOs are 5V tolerant.

In my case it was a problem with Trigger and Echo connected D3 and D4. These GPIOs seems to have problems with the Sensor when trying to awake from sleep.

Connected to D5 and D6 and it works as expected.

Maybe this helps anyone in future.

Cheers.
