Sonoff 4CH x2 for irrigation control.

#1 Post by BeePee » 01 Dec 2019, 12:14

Big Hi to everyone my first post, please don't shoot me. :)

I need some major help from the learned community on this forum.
Having trolled through the forum posts there seems to be very little regarding this idea of mine. But I'm sure others have done something similar.
I am very much a noob at the rules language, done some copy and paste for single sonoff items around the house. But now I need to get serious about replacing my aging X10 controller.
The following is the functionality I'm aiming for. and I'm happy to go one step at a time and hopefully learn something. Each cycle to be initiated by MQTT control.

Relay 1 Master Valve (On same time as each Irrigation Valve)
Relay 2-8 Irrigation Valves

Predetermined Time for each station (2-8) + 1 Master

Sonoff 4 1st Unit 1-4, Second Unit 5-8

Auto Handover, If Valve 3 is operating and 5 is selected, 3 will go off and 5 will go on.

Only 1 Irrigation Valve at a time.

Inhibit Function (all valves) which remains through reboot or power restoration. ie can be set via MQTT for rain or winter modes.

Ability to set zones to Auto ie 2, then 3, then 4, then 5 Then Stop.

Ability to set 2 Preprogramed sequences, like 2 then 4 or 3 then 5.

Is this possible to fit this amount of rules into the Sonoff 4CH units?

Thanks in advance.

You have a lot of rule conditions. They might fit in the two Sonoffs, or maybe not. Only way to know is to write the rules.
Inhibit Function (all valves) which remains through reboot or power restoration.
Device values are retained on warm reboots, but not on cold (power) reset.

I think he meant "valves", which I interpret as "relay state".
A relay may flip during boot.
