ESP v2.0.0-dev12 upgrade - which file?

#1 Post by slyt » 30 Oct 2023, 19:07

I have Sonoff TH16 with ESP Easy Mega (flash size 1024 Kb)
Build: 20000 - Mega
GIT version: v2.0.0-dev12
Yes, I know. Ancient.

Now are the days of upgrade but I am a little bit confused which file should I use / what procedure. I downloaded "ESPEasy_mega_20231013_ESP82xx_binaries.zip" and extracted. My first choice is:
ESP_Easy_mega_20231013_normal_ESP8266_1M_VCC.bin (because of "1M" in the filename) but I am not sure.

I prefer OTA / WebUI upgrade way ?

Can someone give me some advice / answer my doubts ?

You seem to have chosen a matching binary for that 1M TH16 unit. And the Analog input can be used to measure VCC, as you shouldn't connect external devices to those mains-connected Sonoff devices, except for the officially supported sensors. (And they don;t seem to use the analog pin).

Update via OTA on 1M units is no longer possible, mostly because of the increased size of the newer underlying Arduino framework. So a serial-flash seems the only way to go. Be sure to backup your configuration before you upgrade, in case something would fail during the upgrade.

And don't connect your PC to the board when it is plugged in to the mains power.
