New weather station to replace my broken Maplin

#1 Post by nygma » 13 Sep 2024, 19:58

My 15 year old Maplin (N96GY, Alecto V2) finally died. I tried cleaning the transmitter unit and protect it with conformal coating, and it was working again for 1-2 days, but stopped transmitting.

I want to buy something similar that works with RFLink (433MHz), but I don't seem to find the models in the supported device list. Can you recommend a few models that are available in EU?
I need and indoor unit (display) to show the weather data, and rain gauge is a must. And I don't want a 200+ EUR wifi version, something which was more in-line with the price point of the Maplin.

You can take a look at BRESSER UK's Home Weather Stations.

These devices don’t just measure temperature, humidity, and air pressure—they come packed with features designed to make life easier and more predictable. Expect handy additions like trend forecasts based on air pressure changes, alerts for frosty conditions, and indoor climate indicators that suggest the best times for ventilation.

Thanks, I did not know about this brand before. And luckily they are available within the EU as well. Ordering stuff from the UK became such a pain...
