Hi Folks,
A while ago (about 2019 - grin) I got a few Wemos ESP8266 and used them to monitor my hot tubs temperature, they worked great and were happy.
I ordered some new ones last week with a new set of DS18b20 probes and some new SSD1315 OLEDs to build more......
My problem is right now I can't see the Wemos when they're plugged in to my computers, the USB to serial drivers are unhappy.
I've tried 4 different PC's from old WIn7 to Win10 tables and old Tecra laptops and no joy, I do use the laptop's to program ham radios with Chirp so I know they work(ed).
I've installed SPARKFUNS CH340 driver and some older USB ones and still nothing and swapped out various cables - I have two Wemos units here now that are from before
and plugged in to the PC they both power up happy but I can't program them or update the firmware.
Now it has been a while since I used these - but I'm pretty sure you can just plug Esp8266 D1 Mini Pro's in to any USB serial port with a micro USB to USB A cable and see and flash them.
I'm at a loss ..... am I missing something? I don't recall using a ModeMCU before so I don't think that's the problem. For now I go with: "there child-proof!"
Cheers'
Dave
Well darn it - it must be child-proof!

Have you tried swapping the micro-usb cable with another one? Seen too many issues like this just because the cable was wonky...

Does the device get recognized in Windows device manager?
Also you mention the SSD1315 OLED displays.
I don't recognize those numbers, but maybe Ton does know whether those can be used in ESPEasy?

The SSD1315 seems to be compatible with the SSD1306 (at least some example code I found was using the ug8l library with the SSD1306 driver, and it's monochrome), but haven't seen such display yet. YMMV.

Hi,
Well a bit further progress - in a way - I have two ESP that's programmed up but I can't get in to one of them .......
The AP comes up when I power it up the segments light up on the display (even tho a few pixels are optional)
The name of the unit still comes up: Dave_Temp It says: IP (IP Unset)
I can see it on my cell phone too but the password is long gone - does the reset button on these D1 Mini actually do a hard factory reset or is it just a power off/on thing?
Cheers'

Did you test the Wemos board in any platform other than ESPeasy ? Like the Arduino IDE? I think you need to check the board in other platforms. If it fails, you can be sure that the board is damaged.davecason wrote: ↑28 Nov 2024, 00:28 Hi,

To do a factory reset, you can also short RX and TX and then boot the device.
The reset button only pulls the EN pin so the device reboots.
