RFLink 868MHz - Would it work for Griesser blinds ?

#1 Post by SaladCesar » 17 Jan 2024, 23:16

Hi,

I just heard about RFLink. I am searching for a way to control my Griesser blinds, that work with a 868MHz remote. I want to be able to listen for its signals and reproduce it, to then integrate that into Home Assistant.

I made a post at HA forums with more infos here : https://community.home-assistant.io/t/g ... -ha/653160

I guess there is no way to know without testing if it would work, but

Do you think a RFLink 868MHz kit (I plan to buy this one https://www.nodo-shop.nl/en/rflink-/168 ... kabel.html ) would work ? What should I know before buying ?

Thanks in advance for any answer and have a great day.

Besides the frequency also the modulation type is important.
RFlink currently supports ASK/OOK modulation.
If the blinds work with some other type of modulation nothing is received.

Give it a try to see if something is received...
or.. Open the remote and look inside at the parts, possibly they reveal something more.

Thanks a lof for your answer.

The problem is that to open the remote, I need to poke a hole through a tag that is made to indicate if the remote has been opened. I tried to remove the tag without poking through, but it is made to be impossible to remove. I am only renting the place and the remote, I don't want to risk having to re-pay this when I leave.

Are those types of modulation common with blinds ? I've heard doors often have complicated modulations but maybe blinds are less secure. In your opinion, what percentage of chance do I have of having blinds using one of those 2 modulations you mentionned ?

EDIT: I opened it anyway. It looks like this:

The CPU is an ATMEGA324PA AU 1653
I can see on the back a CC1101 C423
The rest is too difficult to read

From the datasheet, CC1101 supports (G)MSK, 2(G)FSK, 4(G)FSK, ASK, OOK . So there is a high chance it's not ASK or OOK, right ?

The PCB shows that it is actualyl an Elero remote control.
They use some form of scrambling and a rolling code.
I did not find any info revelaing the modulation type. This does need to match the recveiver chip or the receiver must allow setting it on the fly.
One thing is sure, it will not work "out of the box".

Hi, I have just seen your answer, thanks a lot for thèse informations. Do you know what would be needed to get an Elero device to work with home assistant ?
