Let's Control It

I'm thinking about the possibility to have simple RF light switches that is operated by coin cells or even the tactile energy (not sure if that's the correct terminology, but the energy harvested from the push of a button). The idea would be to have these wall switches send a RF signal to one or many ESP Easy units that have the corresponding RF receiver attached to it. It would be interpreted by ESP Easy as any switch and act upon the signal as such.

So my question, have anyone seen such hardware being sold. I mean without the bulky relays and enclosures that I see in this Aliexpress unit (link here). It's almost exactly what I'm looking for except that the relays are not needed, only the signal to my ESP.

The discussion. Is this something more people would be interested in or is it only me? I could then approach a manufacturer and suggest them to strip one down and sell.

To recap a button to push down that would generate energy ?

You would need a button to be pushed, and if you talk harvesting you will not need your button cell, or do you mean a super cap to store ?

I can imagine that a mechanically leveraged solution could liberated energy, as in some watches from Seiko and others. But what would be the « harvest » of one push. Anyway, I think that one of the leader on the market of such generators is Swedish ...

I think the idea is top but at this stage I don’t see how this would be feasible, I think a naked ESP on a coin cell could fit the bill.

Don't get hung up on the energy idea. I mean a nice looking remote that can send a RF signal to our ESP. I don't need a ESP to be behind the switch since what I want is a input button only. The closes ESP can broadcast the input to the rest of the house's ESP units. So essentially, a wireless good looking button that can easily be mounted on the wall making it look like a light switch.

Enocean builds this kind of switches - powered piezoelectric. And there is also a gateway for raspberries.

I used for the "klikaanklikuit" ACD-3500 Stopcontact Schakelaar (3500W) the RFXCOM - RFXtrx433 USB 433.92MHz Transceiver
But i like your idea.

I use an RFLink (Arduino) connected to Domoticz through USB because I have more KaKu devices.
I think there is also a KaKu plugin for EspEasy.

This is imho not possible, cause the esp cant receive the rf signals from the switches without additional hardware (and this module is called "gateway" https://www.elv.at/raspberry-pi-enocean-modul.html)

I know, the remote control wall switch would also come with bare receiving circuits that would output 3.3V on one pin. Acting like any other switch input as far as the ESP Easy know.

See attached picture, the receiver units don't need to be enclosed relays. So strip these down and you got what I want.

So you want to use n receivers for n switches instead of only one rf gateway module for all switches?
Then you would need an esp on every receiver location.

No I would not, only one esp would actually receive the RF signal. Then it would publish a MQTT message to the rest of the units.

I guess the best would be a i2c receiver that would just publish whatever signal it received, only two pins for multiple switches, but I think that's asking too much as you want the ESP closest to the wall switch to receive the RF. And multiple switches around the house can send to its closest ESP. I don't think a gateway covering the entire house is needed.

With the Kaku plugin you only need a rf-receiver attached to ESP.
