Connection problems with ESP Easy Release mega-2021xxxx

#1 Post by Doryphore » 20 Feb 2021, 09:15

Hello,

I installed espeasy on 2 wemos D1 mini last year, no problem.

Today I am trying on 3 new wemos d1 mini card, but I am faced with a problem: I cannot connect it to my wifi network (which has not changed).
In Espeasy flasher, I enter the ssid, the password and the IP address, After the flash, the log tells me that everything is OK.

But when I restart the d1 mini, it does not take the entered IP address (such as 192.168.1.126) !!.
I have to connect to the 192.168.4.1, I then choose my wifi network, I enter the password , I validate ..... but it returns to the menu of the choice of wifi networks !!!

I tried with several different versions of espeasy: same result.
My wifi is generated by my asus rt-ax88u router in 2 G and 5 G.

I tried on 2 new wemos d1 mini: same result, impossible for it to connect to my wifi network after flashing

here is a flash log, everything looks normal, but it does not work

Code: Select all

-80dBm (and lower values) is a really weak WiFi signal, and probably won't make or keep the connection. Does it work if you select the ASUS_38_2G AP with -59dBm signal?

Hello,

Of course as indicated in my message I connect to the asus 2G network, without success, even by placing the module near the asus router, with a strong signal....

And the password is typed correctly, I assume? No special/hard to type correctly characters used?

There is one exclamation mark (!) only as a special character, the password is correct, checked on the asus router, test with my phone, used for a long time

So I connect module to access point (192.168.4.1)

And what if you just configure the WiFi settings using the flasher, so not flashing?

What it does is something like this:

Code: Select all

wifissid,myssid
wifikey,mysecretwifipassword
save
You can also try that using any terminal program, like Putty.
Just make sure to set the baudrate to 115200.
You can't make typo's and correct them, so maybe copy/paste them from a notepad or something.

Oh and just to be sure it isn't a power related issue, please also try another USB cable and make sure to connect it to the PC directly or via a powered USB hub.

I've seen a number of issues with recently bought Wemos units where they found another way of cutting costs on the USB connector.
So not all pins make perfect connection to all USB cables and this may result in a voltage drop when drawing more power (when turning on WiFi)

Unfortunately it does not save the data although the log indicates OK
It is always in access point
I would try putty later, but it's really weird

I have already changed cables, Because with the first cable it didn't work
, I connected it to a high quality cable

I also connect it to another power source than the PC, a usb adapter on the sector lol

Problem solved, I found a thread that talks about this problem and gives the solution:
https://github.com/letscontrolit/ESPEasy/issues/2409
==> I used the ROM 20190226_normal_ESP8266_4M.bin -> OK, stable (*) and I updated via OTA to the latest one :ESPEasy_ESP82xx_mega-20210114

"...........I also have one of these Wemos devices. Mine looks exactly as the one @aperoap has posted. Old firmware R120 work fine. I then stepped through more recent firmware builds, beginning with 20181231 (but skipped some in between). Here are my results:

20181231_normal_ESP8266_4096.bin -> OK, stable
20190106_normal_ESP8266_4096.bin -> not OK, connect to initial AP mode fails
20190212_normal_ESP8266_4096.bin -> not OK, connect to initial AP mode fails
20190215_normal_ESP8266_4096.bin -> not OK, connect to initial AP mode fails
20190216_normal_ESP8266_4096.bin -> not OK, initial AP mode worked, later WiFi client slow and unstable.
20190225_normal_ESP8266_4M.bin -> OK, stable (*)
20190226_normal_ESP8266_4M.bin -> OK, stable (*)
20190227_normal_ESP8266_4M.bin -> not OK, initial AP mode worked, later WiFi client slow and unstable.
20190305_normal_ESP8266_4M.bin -> not OK, connect to initial AP mode fails
20190311_normal_ESP8266_4M.bin -> not OK, connect to initial AP mode fails
20190315_normal_ESP8266_4M.bin -> not OK, connect to initial AP mode fails
20190404_normal_ESP8266_4M.bin -> not OK, connect to initial AP mode fails

Re: Connection problems with ESP Easy Release mega-2021xxxx

I bought a few devices last week - NodeMCU v3 (ESP8266), ESP32 30pin and ESP32 38pin.
I flashed latest ESP Easy build mega-20221105 - then I connected to AP and set my WiFi and was awaiting it will connect my WiFi successfully - the same way I have other ESP8266 devices already connected on my WiFi.
NodeMCU refused to connect at all, ESP32 connects after approx. 30 seconds (or sometimes it does not connect at all).

So I enabled new Mikrotik AP and connected one ESP32 to it. Here is how it looks typically - approx. 22:45:55 I clicked reboot:

22:45:56 wireless, info C8:F0:9E:4E:9D:DC@wlan1: disconnected, received disassoc: sending station leaving (8)
22:46:07 wireless,info C8:F0:9E:4E:9D:DC@wlan1: connected, signal strength -63
22:46:07 wireless, info C8:F0:9E:4E:9D:DC@wlan1: disconnected, received disassoc: sending station leaving (8)
22:46:14 wireless,info C8:F0:9E:4E:9D:DC@wlan1: connected, signal strength -64
22:46:14 wireless, info C8:F0:9E:4E:9D:DC@wlan1: disconnected, received disassoc: sending station leaving (8)
22:46:34 wireless,info C8:F0:9E:4E:9D:DC@wlan1: connected, signal strength -63

And then connection is ok, web available ok.

After reading this forum thread I tried to flash older release - mega-20220809 - and all devices connect to my WiFi (and to test Mikrotik AP) without any issues.
Release notes of mega-20221105 shows some WiFi changes - but apparently some of them introduced issues that I observed...

Yep, and those should be fixed in the latest test builds.
Can you test with this test build? https://github.com/letscontrolit/ESPEas ... 3768351350
You need to have a GitHub account for downloading the Binaries ZIP file.
