My H801 and build 147

#1 Post by ManS-H » 25 Feb 2022, 13:17

Hello all,

My H801 Wifi Controller here is still working with ESP Build 147, now I would like to bring it to the latest state. My question, is the H801 still supported? And which version should I use.

I think it mostly depends on what type of LED's you are using. ESPEasy does support PWM in most builds, and also NeoPixel strips (WS8012(b), 5050 etc.) are supported by any Normal build (and Test and Max, but that's not applicable for 1M ESP's).

You can always get the latest 'nightly' builds from Github. You will need a bin file like ESP_Easy_mega20211224_normal_ESP8266_1M.bin. That has to be flashed via a serial connection.

I'd expect it will be properly updated while keeping configuration from that R147 release, but you might want to start afresh, by first noting down the configuration (restoring a backup will plainly overwrite the new configuration with the old, and I'm not sure if that is smart if you want to start fresh), then flash a blank_1MB.bin, and then flash the ESPEasy .bin file.

There is also the Web-flasher (usable from Chromium based browsers like Chrome, Edge, Vivaldi, Brave, Opera), that provides a somewhat older release, but it's still good to go in your situation.
