Q about ESP-07(S), ESP-12(E|F|S)

#1 Post by M*I*B » 27 Dec 2022, 19:22

Hello there,

I'm just create a layout for my (old) new project. While doing that I have take a look who to switch the module into Flash- mode. And... how could it be otherwise... there are conflicting indications

1. Version
GPIO-0 and -15 to GND, CH_PD to VCC
2. Version
GPIO-0 and -15 to GND, CH_PD AND GPIO-2 to VCC

So you know what's correct and what not?

An other question to the hardware-freaks who maybe checked that out.
If version 1 the correct one (I think so), is it enough to pull down GPIO-0 and GPIO-15 via Schottky- diodes like this?

See: https://espeasy.readthedocs.io/en/lates ... on-esp8266
And bookmark this page as you will need it a lot!

GPIO 0 & 2 need to be pulled up to boot and GPIO-15 needs to be down.

When GPIO-0 is pulled down, it will enter flash mode.

... I have bookmark that long time ago as you sugested ...
But I'm not saying that for fun, that there are both variants on the net and even in some data sheets.
But ok. I will check all the different variations by myself. This seems like a better way to me than relying on conflicting statements from the various sources... All good and can be closed...

There are modules out there, like the ESP-12S, which already have these resistors present.
This doesn't mean the states of these pins differ at boot. Only that you don't need to add extra pull-up or -down resistors.
