IFTTT: special characters, Umlaute

Seeking for help:
do you know if it's possible to send special characters like the 'degree char' ° or German Umlaute using ESPEasy rules to IFTTT and receive those ones later on the cell phone? How ;-)
Have tried some codings, best shot was an output like '°'.

Currently I'm sending the string directly from the rules tab: SendToHTTP maker.ifttt.com,80,/trigger/<section>/with/key
value3=TempTank:&nbsp;[tempWas#hwtank]&deg;

Thank you
P.S.: not sure if the section fits.

Does {D} work here?
We don't have an Unicode alias for umlauts etc.

That implies that there is something handling these special characters that doesn't support unicode. Can you try to put in the ° explicitly in your script, so no &deg; or {D} ? I'd expect that to work.
