I have 5 esp's who are talking to each other via port 8266
now it happens that I cannot open the website of one of these esp's. but that one keeps talking via port 8266.

The subject says something different then the description?
Things to check:
- Did you type the ip-address correctly (no comma's?)
- When using the hostname: No typos there?
- Using http:// and not changed by the browser into httpS:// ?

Also, which build are these running?
Sounds a bit like a recently fixed bug where ESPEasy didn't start the services like the web server since it missed registering an event and thus assumed it wasn't fully connected to the network.
Should be fixed in the "Christmas build".

Re: cannot ping esp but esp keeps communicate via port 8266
no subject covers problem
As I have several esp's I always start with a known Ip#
every esl has the 8266 port in the advanced settings so all esp's are listed doen under the config tab
as we speak another esp's website cannot be visited whereas it keeps doing it's job
As I cannot reach the website zi cannot retrieve the softward version
ond of thd esp's is mounted in the ikea airquality meter so need to unscrew that device
is it somewhere listed which versionx suffered from this behaviour?

You can see the version of the 'other' nodes in the overview of the root page of one of the reachable ESPEasy devices.
It is formatted as a build date.

Re: cannot ping esp but esp keeps communicate via port 8266
Thanks for your help.
Problem is that I am having several different versions. So I had to reflash and happily not that difficult rile to rewrite (yes, should have a saved version...)
As the airqualitymeter is still working I unscrew that one later to update.
What is easiest way to get them all on same version?
I never tried OTA with ESPEasy but I presume same as with Tasmota it's sometmes a 2-stage action.
Is there somewhere an easy 'how to' for such

Re: [solved]cannot ping esp but esp keeps communicate via port 8266
Only the 1MB flash units are a bit problematic to update via the web browser.
All other versions should be very easy to update via the tools menu.
Only on ESP32 you need to pay a little more attention to what file to select.
For ESP32-builds (also for ESP32-S2/S3/C2/C3/C6) there are 2 files for each build:
- With "factory" in the name -> used to flash via serial
- Without "factory" in the name -> used to update via the tools page
