Sonoff slow to cold boot - 30 seconds til "boot state" set. No delay set.

Hello all!

I recently flashed 2 Sonoff units with ESPEasy R147_RC8 (the version I've been using successfully with a few other cheap Walmart plugs). I set the desired GPIO pins to be HIGH at boot time. When I warm boot (reboot from the menu) the light responds as expected (turns on fairly quickly after rebooting - 2-3 seconds). However, when I cold boot, it takes a good 30 seconds before setting the GPIO pin to high. I tried setting the GPIO via Rules (I think System#Boot.. whatever it was) and that has same results.

I tried a second unit and had similar results.

I had an unflashed Sonoff unit, so I tried the stock Sonoff firmware and found that it works as expected! Cold boot to switch ON takes about 2-3 seconds, without any noticeable delay.

Tried pinging the device and then cold booting it. The switch/light turns on at the same time that it starts replying to ping requests. Odd behavior?

Any ideas? I don't really love the stock firmware/app combo and would like to switch to ESPEasy but not if that means a 30 second delay to set the boot GPIO pins!

To answer the likely questions:
--Cold boot time matters to me because the switch is in series with the physical switch which is used daily.
--It has to be in series because I have no other options.

Thanks!

No, I think it’s a matter of espeasy first looking for wifi before initializing gpio.

Try a manual ip

Thanks for the idea - I'll try that when I get another stab at it. It's frustrating that something so trivial as having an IP would interrupt the normal boot process and GPIO settings! Is this a bug or a feature?
