A friend of mine staying over the long Easter weekend with us would like to have a copy of my weather station ESP. I tried to delete only the WIFI-settings of my home, so that the ESP would start up in his house as a "new" ESP, but already with hardware, device, rules and notification settings. But ESP Easy will not allow to delete the WIFI-SSID. Any idea on how I can get it done?
I thought of downloading and editing the configuration-file, but I am on Ubuntu and the dat-file will not open with gedit. Any help is highly appreciated.

Re: Configuration without WIFI settings
If you download the config file it will not have the WiF credentials. Your friend can the flash a new esp board and upload the config file as soon as it's configured to his/hers WiFi.
I use the first WiFi setting to configure friends WiFi and have the second with my WiFi credentials. That way my friends can bring the units back to my place if something needs to be upgraded hardware wise.

Re: Configuration without WIFI settings
Thanx for your quick reply. but that's basically not the adequate solution for this case. My friend will not be able to flash the esp. I was thinking that I would flash and prepare everything, apart from his Wifi-credentials. But the second part of your advise sounds good. Is is possible to delete the main Wifi-settings and just leave the fallback-settings? Would in such a case the ESP like a "new" ESP an access point once it is powered?

Re: Configuration without WIFI settings
Yes you can simply delete the credentials and save... but I suggest you add YOUR credentials to the second WIFI since the FW is design to test to connect to the first WIFI and then the second WIFI. If you delete the first WIFI then the logon to your friends WIFI will take longer... just a small advice.

Re: Configuration without WIFI settings
You don't have to delete anything.
When the WiFi cannot connect to the normal accesspoint with the given credentials, an accesspoint will be started to allow the setup of the WiFi credentials.

And that "longer" is not that long.grovkillen wrote: ↑31 Mar 2018, 20:01 Yes you can simply delete the credentials and save... but I suggest you add YOUR credentials to the second WIFI since the FW is design to test to connect to the first WIFI and then the second WIFI. A timeout due to unreachable accesspoint is about 2 seconds, which is retried 3 times and then the 2nd set of credentials will be used. (for 3 times, before the accesspoint will be started)
N.B. this is with the new "event based WiFi", which is added about a week ago.
And a reconnect due to lost network will be retried to the same network first.
Even the same BSSID, to reconnect to the same device first, which will be beneficial when using a WiFi repeater.

Re: Configuration without WIFI settings
I tested in the meantime. I cannot delete the first credentials. So I will test now in the neihbour's network to see what happens. I use currently release v2.0-20180322. Maybe I have to update on a higher version to make it work as TDer mentioned.
