getting status/LWT "connection lost" and last data value

Hi,
On one of the esp01, I am now getting status/LWT "connection lost" and also the last data value even after I have switch off the esp when I subscribe to /%sysname%/#
I take it has something to do with QOS, LWT and retained messages. How do I clear the LWT retained message, ie the last data value? and what is the QOS with espeasy. ESP version mega-20180723 using public mqtt broker hivemq.

One way to remove retained values is to send a new message, with no retain flag, to that same topic. But I find it easier to use a client software to do it instead of using the ESP. I recommend MQTT Snooper: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... qttsnooper
