MPU-6050 as Direction Detector

i plan a new Project to display the Wind Direction

I think the MPU-6060 is the right Chip for that.

Is there a way to read the wind direction with the MPU-6050 or do you have another idea ???

Using that chip is possible, but I think in practice it will be a lot more work than expected.

I found an online project that uses 8 reed switches configured with resistors and a moving magnet. It provides 16 wind direction positions using three wires (Vcc, Gnd, analog voltage out). Technical details with nice photos to help you make your own:
