Hi,
I'm looking for some hardware where I can connect a probe to "any" serial connection where I can view the data being sent, on my PC. Right now I'm looking inside a tower fan, which has two PCB's with a connector between. The connector has e.g. RX/TX, so I was thinking if I somehow could tap into the communication and perhaps replicate it via en ESP + misc. hardware. Does such hardware exist? (Not only for e.g. RS-232).
What kind of hardware?

Re: What kind of hardware?
Well such protocol decoders do exist and often use a PC to decode the data.
For example Sigrok
For this you can use just about any logic analyser tool, like the very affordable 8 channel 24 MHz USB analyzers which can be had for less than 10 euro.
For example: https://www.banggood.com/nl/USB-Logic-A ... 77821.html
But there are lots and lots of sellers of these.
Only disadvantage is that you need to hook it to a PC.

Sigrok also has Android port, so it can be used with a phone via OTGOnly disadvantage is that you need to hook it to a PC.
Re: What kind of hardware?
OK, didn't know that.
Now find a phone supporting USB OTG

Re: What kind of hardware?
Don't mind a PC, I'll try the one @TD-er is linking to. For that price, I can afford possible mistakes

Re: What kind of hardware?
Just keep in mind the GND of the analyzer is connected to the GND of your PC.
So make sure you don't try to connect it to something with a completely different potential.

Re: What kind of hardware?
Yes, that's a classic mistake. Looking forward to testing when the box arrives. Thanks for your input, so far
