AHT10 Sensor

#1 Post by ice77 » 16 Jan 2021, 20:09

Hello

I use ESPeasy and I have AHT10 sensors and can not use them with ESPeasy. I've done a pull request on github... my first ever :-).
https://github.com/letscontrolit/ESPEasy/pull/3465

I don't know if I've done it right.

I would really appreciate if the AHT10 sensor would be added to ESPeasy mega :-)

Thank you in advise

Well I did close that PR, as it was unmergable and also probably not what you intended to do :)
What you probably meant was to open an issue.
A pull request is a request to merge code changes you made into the code repository.

I don't have these sensors... I think.

viewtopic.php?t=8049

Note that I tried using the SHT31 sensor. And I liked this sensor more than AHT10.
And most importantly: SHT31 has support ESPEASY.

What are the pros and cons of each?

Of course, I have few statistics. But, other sensors outside the house stopped correctly detecting humidity after a couple of weeks.
The SHT31 sensor has been working for over two months and detects humidity well.
And most importantly: it is supported by EspEasy!

I yesterday tryed to run the AHT10 Sensor with a self compiled binary of tasmota and tasmota recognized a totally different sensor. So I attached the SHT31 sensor and it runs out of the box with tasmota. So I don't know whats the problem, but with tasmota the AHT10 does not work.

I bougt 2 of the AHT10, because I read that it has more accuracy than the BME280 that I also have. The humidity part of AHT10 should be much better. Now if possible I would try to get them to work. My preferred binary is ESPeasy.

I would really appreciate if the sensor could be added. Otherwise I have to trash twice of them :-(.

Be sure to tell me where you are to trash unnecessary sensors!!! :-)

How can i get them running? ESP easy has no support for this sensor and tasmota failed.
ESP home is too complicated to create the configuration in the jaml file

I use AHT10 sensors in my arduino projects.
But, I would also like EspEasy to support them.

You could clone the ESPEasy repo to your own github account and create a new plugin for this device (there is a template and dozens of I2C plugins as examples available) to PR into ESPEasy. Good starting point would be the Adafruit AHTX0 library.
But if you think the ESP Home yaml config is too complex, not sure if you want to start this challenge, as it is way more complex than some yaml configration...
