I have 2 ESP8266 loaded with build mega-20231013. Both a unique Unit number and both on the same network and also both on PORT 8266. I want to use the p2p option. My observation: on unit 252 I see the other unit (240). On Unit 240 I don't see the 252 Unit. Repeatedly reloaded the firmware (and also the build from juni) but on the 240 no Unit 252 appear . What could be the problem?

On both the p2p enabled and both onport 8266

Sorry, but other than that i can not help you. Even without the controller enabled the units should appear in each others list if i am not mistaken.
Did you try other unit numbers like 1 and 2 (not that this should make any difference). Did you have some routers in between (eg. mesh network)?

Usually, it 'Just Works (r)', out of the box, so it's a bit weird the units don't see each other. Did you assign a name without spaces to both units? And maybe a unique name might help, next to the required unique unit numbers. (and not unit number 0 or 255).

The naming convention is the same Unit Name:ESP_Easy and and a unique unit number. I have anther set op esp's using a p2p protocol, those work fine so for me it is a mistery but I will check the procedure with another empty esp.

Are they all connected to the same network?
You don't need to have them connected to the same access point, but they need to be in the same "subnet".

If you have your access point (or one access point) configured as a router, then the WiFi clients connected to that access point will not be in the same subnet.

So do they all have an IP address in the same subnet?
For example 192.168.1.x with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

You don't even need to have a p2p controller enabled to have all nodes "see" eachother on the root page.
Just have the "ESPEasy p2p UDP port" (on Tools=>Advanced page) set to the same value. The default is UDP port 8266.

The UDP 8266 is activated on both esp's and also the Subnet 255.255.ect is the same. Currently I try to connect with a fresh esp and see what happens.

The problem is solved. Loaded the latest firmware on another ESP8266 and p2p worked immedialyely. Loaded on the "old" not working ESP, the empy 4mb file. After that the Normal one and p2p worked again on the old one.

Ah, great that it's solved, thanks for the feedback.

Probably some low-level Arduino parameter was stored in an obscure flash location, that can only be resolved by a full-wipe of the flash.
