D1 Mini IP problems after flashing

#1 Post by FinnFan79 » 14 Feb 2025, 16:00

After I got good experiences with my first ESP8266 running ESP Easy, I've ordered a few more at Aliexpress. Now that they arrive, I flashed the same firmware as the first one. After connecting to my WIFI I've got problems to connect the UI. Suddenly it worked, but not stabil. I did a ping and compared withe the first device. It's much slower and has timeouts. Somtimes it's not reachable for more that 20 secs. I've compared everything in the UI, nothing strange.
The load is 3.15%
RSSI: .60dBm
I've tried another new one, the same problem.
What can I check?
Maybe I got some fake ones. Any idea? Thanks

A few things to check:
- Power supply to the ESP (should be stable, thick enough wires)
- Why do you have 8.8.8.8 as the DNS server? Should better be your local router
- Any interference sources (like smartphone, tablet or other RF transmitting devices) or large metal objects close to the ESP board?

There's a Last Disconnect Reason of "(202) Auth fail", was that an initial error, or does it repeat?

- Power should be fine.
- DNS: fixed that
- interference sources: I don't think so. Also the first ESP (the one that works) was at the same position. Was also working when in parallel.
Disconnect Reason: How can I find out if it repeads? Is there a log?
Tools/Log says:
248006: WD : Uptime 4 ConnectFailures 0 FreeMem 20240 WiFiStatus: WL_CONNECTED 3 ESPeasy internal wifi status: Conn. IP Init

I've tried to flash the 20241222 Climate 4M and it's running much better.
But still I thing there's something wrong with the new devises :-(

RSSI is -60dBm, which is a weak signal. Does the problem go away with a better RSSI, such as -50dBm or stronger?
- interference sources: I don't think so.
I have PSTD from resolving a recent interference issue.
