ESP32-C3: Error connecting to smtp, notification fails

Hi,

I cannot send notifications on a ESP32-C3 Super-Mini Board, getting following error in the Log:
"Email: Error connecting to smtp.smart-mail.de:25 Error code: 3"

I am using F/W "ESP_Easy_mega_20241222_normal_ESP32c3_4M316k_CDC.bin"
but also tried the 1st one where ESP32-C3 support was added ("ESP_Easy_mega_20230623_normal_ESP32s3_4M316k_CDC.bin")
to figure out if this error was introduced in a recent firmware version.
However the error is the same at both versions.


I configured the Email SMTP settings exactly the same way as on all my other ESP8266
and ESP32 nodes (the other ESP32 are "normal" ones, no -C3 version), copied the settings 1:1.

I searched already on the forum and saw that another user was reporting a similar issue:

but at his side it was an issue with the WiFi router while here on my side,
all my other ESP's with ESP-Easy are working with my AP/router which leads me to the assumption
that there might be an issue with the ESPEasy ESP32-C3 firmware.

I am using smart-mail.de (Port 25) and as the ESP32 also supports SSL (Port 465)
I also tested it with GMX.de - however the failure is the same:
sending notifications via Email doesn't work anymore.

Does anyone has similar issues or an advice how to solve that issue?

This authentication issue has been fixed recently, but is not available in a Release yet.
