Noob: receive values via MQTT?

#1 Post by key2 » 13 Aug 2016, 23:17

Hi,

i am new to this topic - but it is after 30min of flashing, reading and browsing incredible amazing!! Great job, guys! Easy and fast to set up. But there is one thing in dont understand: Are the published MQTT-Values of an easyesp-node only read only? Or can i set values via MQTT in easyesp-node? Or must i use the http-request to set values?

What i want to do is to connect a lcd-display showing temperature or other values/text which i already have in Openhab (published by mosquitto). So, i tried to connect an EasyESP node to my mosquitto for receiving those values, too...but esp-node does not change/accept the new values via mqtt...

Greetings

Andreas

Hi,

i am really sry, but i dont get it to work. publishing values works great. but i dont get "text" via mqtt back to my i2c-LCD connected to a wemos D1 mini...
I think, the mqtt message (topic) is malformed?! I tried to find an example in the forum - without luck.
Could anyone give me a working example how i can get text via mqtt-message on my lcd?

greetings

Andreas
