Multiple Dallas sensors

[Dombo71]

Dear.. I have used espeasy for my terrarium for years, with 5 dallas sensors on 1 pin.
After there was a power flow, my esp broke [power supply too]. Now a new esp [nodemcue V3] with espeasy [old version because everything worked. ]
But I can no longer get the config with 5 sensors to work. Tried different resistors, [I thought 4.7 worked, but that didn't work], put others in, but couldn't get it to work.

Can someone help me with the correct config, 5x dallas on 1 pin.

Did you also replace the Dallas sensors after the power-issue, or only the ESP? And if the sensors are not replaced, it's still possible they are also broken...

Can you get it working with only 1 sensor on the GPIO pin?

NB: Upgrading to the latest ESPEasy release will probably give you the feature of having multiple (up to 4) Dallas sensors in a single task, that was added some time ago.

The problem is... I cannot test 1 because they ar separate in the terrarium.

Can you disable the MQTT controller just as a test?
Sometimes the MQTT controller takes up all CPU resources when trying to reconnect and since reading of Dallas sensors is rather timing critical, you may just experience issues there due to the MQTT controller constantly reconnecting.

This at least will help you to determine whether the sensors still work.

N.B. in later builds this stalling of the ESPEasy node when reconnecting to the MQTT broker is way less of a burden to the node. (latest test builds, not even the April release)

Do you really need an 1M build?

If so, then it is a bit tricky to upgrade as you need to connect via serial to flash a new build.

Just to be sure, you aren't using one of those Sonoff boards and connecting sensors to it which can be touched or make contact with water... right?
Quite a lot of those commercially sold modules or power plugs with an ESP8266 and 1M flash do not have proper isolation from mains power.
So if you solder anything to its internals and make it available on the outside of the enclosure, then you may create a dangerous situation if the unit doesn't have proper isolation.

Just as a rule-of-thumb; If the device can also measure power consumption, then it will for sure NOT be isolated.

It is best to make sure there is no direct connection between GND of the ESP board and any of the mains power pins.
You can try to measure its resistance using a multimeter.

No water inside. Try a lot of powersupplys.
What flash is better the 4m? Or what do you mean?

What we're trying to say are a few different things:

1) Be very careful if you have ESP-based units, like those from Sonoff, that are connected directly to 230V mains power!

2) If you have a board with 4MB Flash memory ('NodeMCU v3' suggests you have), then please use a 4M1M build, as that makes it much easier to upgrade ESPEasy, by using the Tools/Update Firmware button via the browser.
And also you should be using a more recent release of ESPEasy, if only to have the hugely improved Dallas sensor support.

3) If anyway possible, please test each Dallas sensor separately, just to make sure each still works as it should. Then later you should be able to again use them in parallel, as intended.
Looking at the results from your log, it's very likely that some of the sensors are damaged.

The pull-up resistor for a single sensor should be around 4k7, having multiple sensors wired together (up to 100 seems to be possible!) that value might need to be a bit lower, but probably not (much) below 2k2. With 5 sensors, the 4k7 value seems fine.

NB: That 'power flow' event, was that caused by a lightning strike at the location of the terrarium? As that would increase the chances of broken, or possibly unreliably working, sensors.

If you have ESPEasy running on this board/node, then please navigate to the System Info page (blue button "More info" on the first page) and on the system info page, please check near the bottom of the page what size of flash is detected.

If this shows something like this:

then you have a 4 MB flash chip.
If it shows "1024" then you have a 1 MB flash chip.

If you have a board with 4MB of flash, then please flash a "Normal 4M [ESP8266,ESP32,ESP32-S2/S3/C3]" from here: https://td-er.nl/ESPEasy/latest/

N.B. the list is sorted with "LittleFS" builds first and then SPIFFS builds. However for ESP8266 there is only SPIFFS builds.

Just tested the Backup files option on both an ESP32-C2 and ESP8266, and they are working without crashing. Only thing is that Chrome tries to convince me that downloading a .tar file is unsafe, which isn't true (particularly if you know where it's from).

Installed the same build you used on a unit, and the Tools/Save (Backup isn't available on that release...) option is working without issues, so if you can provide a serial log of the crashes you see, that would be really helpful.
