distance sensor delay and controller delay

#1 Post by riker1 » 08 Apr 2018, 10:54

Hi
have the distance sensor attached to the esp nodemcu 4 MB
using: v2.0-20180126

how can I speed up the results?
the delay of the sensor is 1, 0 can not be appliied, always back to 60.

I also often see time out while reading input data. but not shure what this is reelated to as
for distance I get alse errors.

66826011 : SR04 : Distance: No reading!
66826995 : SR04 : Distance: No reading!
(at the moment at is on a breadboard, maybe bad connections=

other Question: controller delay is for which controller, having thingspeak and fhem attached.

Controller Settings
MQTT Retain Msg:
Message Delay:
200000
[ms]

Thanks T

There is a pull request for update of the distance sensor library. That update (or at least the library) includes an option to set a maximum distance, which improves reaction times.
Is that what you mean by speeding up?

N.B. this PR has not been merged yet.

Hi TD, thanks,
yes reaction time is what I meant by speeding up:-)

so I have to wait for the merging .

Hi
via google it is possible to find a lot if tutorials
connecting SR04 straight to the esp8266.

not via level converter.

Any experience with that ?

some even just use 3,7 V input? it is supposed to have 5 i think

Thanks

On the wiki there is already a very simple level converter documented for these sensors.
You can simply use some resistors.

Thanks for guiding me to the WIKI, did it as described there.

Just wondering if it is working without the level converter as I did see in some internet tutorials.
want to avoid to many beadboard connections to keep it simple and stable

..of couse avoiding ESP beeing damaged.
