I had an older, modified version running logging to a public server
I waned to try now the newer releases . no modifications made
When using generic HTTP Protocol - then "Use Hostname" - the log always says connecting to 0.0.0.0
I even tried to declare my router as DNS in the optional settings
Any ideas what i´m doing wrong ?
What are the optional settings for ?
How to connect by hostname ?

Re: How to connect by hostname ?
In the field Controller Hostname should appear only the host-part of the URL. kr123.de
This part is then resolvable by DNS
The rest of the URL has to be in Mqtt advanced settings.
The optional settings in the screenshot are for fixed IP instead of dhcp client

Re: How to connect by hostname ?
I ran into a similar problem because I had included https:// in the hostname. When I removed that everything worked.

Re: How to connect by hostname ?
I have been using the connect by hostname option for several weeks without trouble. This week things quit working. I am pretty sure my trouble came from the hostname lookup seems to only happen when the controller is configured. In my case the ip of the host changed. More details of my configuration and application are in another post.

The hostname I used was weatherstation.wunderground.com
Can anyone confirm that the ip of the hostname is only looked up when the controller is configured?
Thanks for the help,
Ryan
