ESP Easy: ESP8266 R147

#1 Post by ravikjab » 04 Dec 2016, 20:38

Hello,

I'm just new in this software.
I tray today use ESP Easy with my ESP-01 and configurate with Domiticz. I use version R120 of ESP EASY and it works with DS18B20. So I try connect my Relay switch but I couldn't switch from Domoticz. After that I also couldn't display Devices when I log on website my ESP Easy.
I also update to R147 but it doesn't help.
Please could anyone help me ?

Hi,

first check your power supply. ESP chip may need more current (some peaks at about 300mA, not easy measurable with a multimeter, because very short).
A poor supply could cause ESP failures.
You seem to have problems after trying to activate a relay. The current needed by the relay coil may cause a glitch to the supply rails, and corrupt the ESP internal memory.

You can try to add a 470µF (or more) capacitor between +3v3 and GND (closest to the ESP module).

If it doesn't work, try to reflash your ESP.

Good luck ;)

It doesn't help, I add 100uF.
I try also re-flash and still couldn't display devices, so perhaps I destroy my ESP during connect relay :-(.

Which schematics do you use for relay control ?
If you made a mistake in relay wiring, it could damage only the GPIO you used...

Did you try to flash a more recent firmware ?

I try connect this relay http://www.sainsmart.com/8-channel-dc-5 ... logic.html
in ESP Easy for devices i choose Swith and GPIO-2. On GPIO-0 i have connect DS18B20.
If only GPIO-2 is damege why I couldn't display devices i ESP EASY ?
I try flash with R120 and R147, on both versions was the same problem with devices?
Could you have older version to flash ?

OK, this is a ready-to-use relay board.
I don't think you can damage your ESP with that kind of board.

Maybe your ESP has internal failure ?...

Anyway, you can find older releases here : https://sourceforge.net/projects/espeasy/files/

You must to know that I remove jumper and connect 5V to pin JD-VCC.
Could this damage ?

You're absolutely right. 5V can damage the ESP chip.
But you have removed the jumper before connecting 5V (to pin 3 I hope ?)
In that case, no damage to GPIO pin.

ESP8266 datasheet specify an operating voltage between 3.0 and 3.6V. Most regulators used on boards output 3.3V, so GPIO are able to deal with a voltage between 0V (GND) and 3.3V (Vcc).

If you remove the jumper and connect 5V to the pin 3, there's no voltage applied to the optocoupler, and it doesn't work anymore.
You must connect +3.3V to pin 2 (central pin) to allow GPIO2 activate the optocoupler and switch the relay.

In case of doubt, try to use another GPIO.

BTW, is the web configuration page available ? Why do you keep on using serial ?
