ESP Easy - hivemq

#1 Post by Beowolf » 28 Aug 2024, 10:38

Hello everyone,

how do I get the connection to this mqtt broker provider?

https://www.hivemq.com/

This is where an "IP" cluster URL is generated.

686134589c624329828efc3cb72095d8.s1.eu.hivemq.cloud

How or where do I enter this in ESPEASY?

Regards
Manfred

You normally should change to use DNS, but I'm not sure if such long URLs can be stored in the settings.
So I think you may have found an issue which cannot be solved without changing settings structure.

Does this broker platform also support some other ways like a shorter URL but then use this hex value as user credentials?

I just tried it here on a node and I can store the hostname just fine.
Apparently there is enough space (have not looked at the source code yet)

Ah I notice you need TLS, which is not included right now in ESPEasy.

There is a pending PR to add TLS support for MQTT, but this does not compile right now for "LittleFS" builds.
Can you see if there is some build here you can test: https://github.com/letscontrolit/ESPEas ... 0516654841
Just to make sure it is a TLS problem or not....

Have you tried with one of the test builds I linked?

I can't find a BIN for a Wemos D1 mini.

A link would be helpful.

Thank you

And there won't be any as TLS is way to much demanding for ESP8266.
We simply do not have the free RAM for it as it requires 20 - 23 kB of free memory and it also extends the binary size way too much.

So no TLS for ESP8266 in ESPEasy.

OK. Too bad, then I'll have to stick with Tasmota for TLS. It works with a Wemos D1 mini without any problems.

Thanks anyway
