Do you mean powering ESP from the USB-to-serial?
Are you using a breadboard?
What is the max. output (Amps) of your PSU?

Re: cannot connect to MQTT broker.

Thank you, already read that. SUB template:%sysname%/# PUB template: %sysname%/%tskname%/%valname% Removed the first "/" Don’t use a leading forward slash It is allowed to use a leading forward slash in MQTT, for example /myhome/groundfloor/livingroom. But that introduces a unnecessary top...

Re: cannot connect to MQTT broker.

Perfect. Now I can turn GPIOs on and off through the broker. How should the responses (state change confirmation) appear from the ESP on the broker? Later I want to drive my nodes via OpenHab, so I'll need to have status reports to keep it sane... Subscribed to the topic unit1/# -and when I manually...

Re: After reflashing ESP-07 boots up as Station

Thank you, worked for me.
I've used R78 since it is still not clear for me where to find the bin files for the new release.

After reflashing ESP-07 boots up as Station

I had an ESP the EspEasy flashed onto, but to start as a fresh one I've reflashed it (R78, had a static IP assigned to it by my router). After reboot it connected to my router still having the previous config onboard, like SSID, pass but not the GPIO's defaults as I've set them earlier. Is it normal...

Re: cannot connect to MQTT broker.

OK, after Mosquitto already running typing "mosquitto" to the terminal window tries to start it again, maybe that's the reason. But still unable to connect to broker. I read somewhere that there is a syntax issue with "/%sysname%..." -that maybe the "/" is not needed at...

Tried, but I see no difference. ESP is still unable to connect broker. I find this interesting: ● mosquitto.service - LSB: mosquitto MQTT v3.1 message broker Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/mosquitto) Active: active (running) since Wed 2016-03-09 16:40:37 CET; 1min 57s ago Process: 395 ExecStart=/etc/in...

Re: cannot connect to MQTT broker.

That's a bit weird for me. I've reinstalled mosquitto following the sample (I've picked Jessie), and after listed the packages available I chose just install. After it's been done checked its status: pi@arcpi:~ $ sudo /etc/init.d/mosquitto status ● mosquitto.service - LSB: mosquitto MQTT v3.1 messag...

That is exactly what I was looking for. Could you help me where could I find more about it?

2 local AP: Making it so that even without your device being connected to a network you can access the UI to do the normal control things. It must be possible (not at the moment) to let the ESP act as AP and Station at the same time with the UI feature. Though most people would like to have a centr...

Re: Are there any plans for simple BASIC rules in Easy ESP?

Well, just to make clear I'm still on my discovering journey to find components for my system to build upon, therefore I have way more questions than answers. I think to make a reliable home automation sytem there are cornerstones one should not bypass. As long as home automation is only turning a d...

Re: How to connect and upload

Thanks, I've found it in the "Using the flashtool to upload the ESP Easy firmware" tutorial accidentally, and having no doubt that I'm a noob at this, but is that IP obvious? ;)
Perhaps I've missed something important.

Anyway, thank you for your effort, it is working now!

Re: How to connect and upload

For the record: OK, I tried with my lab PSU adjusted to 3.4V. The board draws 0.21A, but no success with uploading anything, so I stepped back to the first board I used which is soldered to a board with headers, and supplied it DIRECTLY from the FTDI with a 470uF cap, and it worked like a charm. No ...

Re: How to connect and upload

may you check this twice. exchange with another usb-serial (other chip?), or try from raspberry/Linux, if possible. some people exchanged usb-cable, which helped. may try this? and maybe try to flash nodemcu with the nodemcu-flash-tool? descriptions here in the forum and on the nodemcu website. may...

Re: How to connect and upload

Hi folks, it seems I have some sort of a similar problem. Uploading anything successfully to my ESP-07 is totally accidental. I have an FTR232RL (3.3V) USB/Serial, separate PSU at 3.5V/1A (common grounds with USB/Serial) -actually I have two of these, tried both with multiple USB cables Rx-Tx crosse...
