RULES - own section - syntax explain - SENDtoUDP

#1 Post by tozett » 24 Apr 2016, 11:33

i am playing with rules,
seems an important new function for homeautomation control, directly on the device.
Maybee the admins should consider making an own section for rules
as a growing source of knowledge?

1) ----------------------------------------
would be helpful to have clearer explanation in wiki for the syntax of <event> creation.
i attach an image, if i got this right.

also a list of possible actions could help to prevent searching the source..

2) --------------------------------

AND MY personal BIG WISH:
maybe the dev could expand/clone the SendTO command to a

SendToUDP (port/ip)

command ? i assume that not so much work,
(as it is already udp to other deviced)
but would widen the possibilites to send sensor-values directly from the device around the net.
i would use this to send the RFID-Tag values to my homeserver for door-opening.
Would really appreciate this function.. ;-)

by inccident if found out, that one can check the right syntax in the log,
where EVENTS are logged like:

Code: Select all

EVENT: wifi-rssi#wifi-rssi=-46.00
EVENT: dht-11#Humidity=19.00
EVENT: dht-11#Humidity=19.00
maybe worth to mention in the wiki?

Hi there,

I am using a building automation system called loxone which is very flexible in terms of customization and integration with other systems and protocols. Fortunately it can handle udp very well.

I would appreciate having udp integrated in espeasy in order to send sensor values or receive commands via udp. I am definitely no coding expert, but what i found so far in the code of r104 only enables espeasy to send text only via udp.

Please developers: could you please integrate more sophisticated udp functionality in espeasy!

Many thanks
Emir

hi,
i had the same settting with my gira homeserver (not loxone),
i can suggest building something in-between, like node-ned and communication at first everthing over mqtt, than from node-red to upd (or anything else). this is more powerful, but also simple to employ. there is information here in the forum.
just a suggestion... as i am also no developer...

Thanks for your hint.

As i intend to keep my system as simple as possible, i try to keep number of systems and protocols low. Also someone else should be able to manage and service the system. Therefore i definitely do prefer the pure udp communication...

I would really appreciate getting udp supported formsensor values...

Regards
Emir

i think, the devs will not build everything what is on the whislist...
but how knows... i had a lot of points sticked on that list.
maybe this could help you in the meantime...?
